Toshiba Market
From The Yuriban Encyclopedia
The Toshiba Market is a food shop located at the end of the trail that goes north from the Maboroshi Islet boardwalk. Emi owns it and runs it with the help of her consort, Falcio and, occasionally, her daughter Alice_Toshiba.
General Information
The shop is rather modest in size but it is the only dedicated foodshop on the island. The items for sale vary from vegetables and fruits to meat and spices, there are even some basic cooking utensils available, to make life easier in the Yuriban kitchens. Although usually well furnished, some of the goods that have to come from off the island might occasionally be hard to find due to the difficulties of shipping. Since the beginning, a woman named Maria works there to help customers with their shopping. While both Emi and Falcio always work seriously, they are always happy to have a friendly conversation with customers who like to stop and talk.
History
It was opened in the August of the year 2007 by Emi and her former wife Mia. It was initially named Arisu Market, after the couple’s last name, Arisu. Mia and Emi divorced later in January 2008; When Mia left, Emi kept managing the market alone and even had to use it as dwelling until she got married to Falcio. Although both Emi and Falcio changed their last name in Toshiba upon becoming a couple, the shop kept the name “Arisu Market” and it has been officialy still co-owned by Mia until August 2008, year in wich it was completely trasferred over to Emi and renamed Toshiba Market. In 2008, after being remodeled and it’s variety of articles expanded to satisfy the requests of some customers, Emi and Falcio started opening a stall for every festival, where they occasionally sell special goods that migt not be available all year round at the market. Since Febrary 2010, Emi accepted Falcio’s request of donating all of the monthly income of the market, minus Maria’s wage, to charity.
Trivia
- It seems that Emi and Falcio both agree on boycotting the People’s republic of China as a sign of protest against it’s many crimes; therefore, no chinese goods are sold or bougth in the Toshiba Market.
- The income of the Toshiba Market is donated, every month, to different charity organizations that are carefully picked out by Falcio to sort out the ones that are either unreliable or biased.
