Silent Auction
From The Yuriban Encyclopedia
The Silent Auction is a semi-annual event hosted by the Crimson Rose and Sword's owners, Miyako Tanaka and Shay Black, which was introduced at the 2008 Anniversary Festival. Unlike previous attempts at starting some sort of business by the two, this one seems to be a success.
The first ever silent auction, which was held in March 2008 was a huge success, bringing in well over 500,000 Lilies with the average auction ranging around the 20,000L mark. A second auction was held in August 2008 which was a smaller success, bringing in 400,000L with the average auction price ranging around 10,000L.
Yearly auctions are held during the Anniversary Festival in March; these auctions tend to start one week before the celebration and end around the next-to-the-last day of the festival, with the winners being announced verbally the final day. Depending on the success rate of the Anniversary Auction, a second auction may or may not be held during the Summer Matsuri.
Items up for auction were initially "donated" to Miyako by either breisleach or other parties making their own contributions to lend a hand. As of March 2009, Miyako has allowed anyone to put their ideas, creations and even themselves up for bids for a small commission fee, in hopes that they too can see a profit.
