Immigration policy
From The Yuriban Encyclopedia
Yuriba's immigration policy governs the admittance of newcomers to the island. It is so liberal that its existence is not widely known. By the terms of the policy human females may come and go from the island as they please with no interference, but most other groups are treated with at least minor scrutiny.
Immigration policy is handled by a small group of respected citizens.
Nonhuman species
Humans may enter Yuriba freely, but all other races are subject to at least a look-over by the island's administrators to ensure compatibility with the island's other residents. Generally this process is a formality for most species, as native Yuribans themselves are a racially diverse society and do not often discriminate on the basis of species.
Real angels and demons are seldom allowed to enter Yuriba due to their inherent power and status as holy figures of foreign religions. Their presence is said to disturb the Lady. Males are subject to the most scrutiny of any incoming group, and most will never make it to the island without an extremely good reason and a large amount of administrative trust. However, these criteria have not been met often, and the current male population of Yuriba numbers less than ten individuals.
The undead are generally considered abominations and not permitted to enter Yuriba, with very few exceptions.
Powers
Yuriban immigration policy focuses heavily on the powers and abilities of its visitors. Those who wield powerful magic or use highly advanced technology are often required to accept restraints upon their powers or leave their devices behind. This is a cultural constraint as much as a security one, as it is said that the island's goddesses are not comfortable with strong foreign magic in particular. While some minor hand weapons are permitted, offensive skills and powers are not.
As Yuriba is intended to be a peaceful environment for socialization, many powers are not necessary to fully enjoy the Yuriban experience.
