Foothills

The Foothills are an area of the island that separate the main part of the Yuriban Forest from the mountainous area in the northern part of the island where Engetsu-san, Akibimi-san and Inishie-san can be found. There are three paths leading into it, by following White Lily Road, Tiger Lily Road, or Sand Lily Road north from the Village proper, and continuing along either Cherry Lane or Spruce Lane.

The area in the Foothills is covered in a dense old-growth forest, with trees thick enough to block out the sun in some places, but as one travels further north towards the mountains the trees begin to spread out a bit more. The area became accessible again after the Magequake, when the barrier around the village collapses partially. So far, the foothills proper are largely unpopulated, other than the Apex Inn.

Also located inside the forest are a large assortment of local flora and fauna. Everything from the Chic Deer and various avians, to strange and wonderous botanical life. The eager explorer might also discover some forgotten relics of the Old Yuriban culture, though such finds are rare, and should be turned over to the village for study.
