Jump to: navigation, search

Divine magic is a a school of wholly faith-based magic that stems from religion, drawing upon a patron deity's or spirit's powers during prayer. Practitioners of this style are typically clergy of a church, or of some religious sect, and tend to be referred to as "priests" or "clerics".

Local use

The local school of divine magic is very closely entwined with that of druidic magic, especially owing to the fact that Yuriba's pantheon is largely druidic in nature. What clergy there is on Yuriba worships a small pantheon of goddesses related to different facets of nature, with the primary deity being known simply as The Lady. Its teachings are rooted in the belief that faith in one's deity will bear one through all adversity in life. The school of Divine magic also focuses heavily on education and religious guidance, and seeking to pass on the message handed down from the patron deity to others.

Comparisons to other schools

Divine magic is seemingly linked to the druidic schools of magic, especially on Yuriba. Like druidic magicians, priests and clerics draw their power from the worship of a deity or spirits. Divine magic, however, places larger emphasis on the learning of lessons passed down from that deity. The writer thus far is uncertain if such a text exists for the Yuriban pantheon, as it is not widely displayed.
